Meet Lisa Cookston
Lisa Cookston has spent years helping preserve and celebrate the stories, creativity and traditions that make Greenwood special. As Executive Director of the Museum of the Mississippi Delta, she believes the best way to understand a place is through its people, art and history. Through exhibits, programs and community partnerships, Lisa helps connect visitors with the culture and history that continues to shape Greenwood today.
“The Delta has such a rich creative spirit. Art, history and culture are all connected here, and every story helps you understand the people who call this place home.” – Lisa Cookston
Lisa showcases the Delta through art and artifacts. For her, the arts are more than paintings on a wall or artifacts in a display case. They are a living reflection of the Delta itself. From visual artists and musicians to storytellers and makers, Greenwood’s creative community continues to inspire new generations while honoring the region’s past.
Meet More Soul Mates
Our “Soul Mates” are exactly as described, the heart and soul of Greenwood. Each of them contributes a piece of their unique essence to help make our city special, weaving together stories, talents, cultural experiences and more into a tapestry that’s distinctly Greenwood. Scott’s deep ties to our city’s music and its history help make it the extraordinary place to visit that it is.
This new video series features four of the many Soul Mates we've written about over the years. The full set of Soul Mates blogs can be found here.
